Our children grow so fast and their faces and expressions change faster than we can keep track of. I’m so thankful for my iphone for keeping track of small moment in my daily life that I can send so easily to the distant grandparents in Spain and Skåne. But apart from these daily moments real portraits are priceless to have. Newborn photos because, as a newly delivered mum, we barely remember those first 2 sleep deprived weeks, and after 2 weeks they’ve grown so much that they just don’t look the same anymore. The next ages that is really special to capture properly is around 7-8 months when they have learnt to sit up. Their faces light up and they can hold, grab and eat their toys. They might even be able to crawl or commando style drag themselves around. It’s a great time. Here are some favourites of the lovely Samual who came to my studio recently just in this age.
Happy Easter people! I hope you’ve all had a lovely few days off work with family and friends. In the UK (where I’m from) this weekend is a popular DIY (do it yourself) weekend and that’s what I’ve been up to with my family! There was a trip to Ikea to buy a tall narrow set of draws with a mirror in the lid. Before we had children I had my very own dressing room in our little house and I loved it! A place to fix my hair and makeup with everything to hand. Since children though my things have been scattered around the house in a drawer or cupboard here and there and somehow my jewelry just stays in the box, hair straighteners were forgotten and makeup has turned into a quick swish of mascara in the hall mirror, eyeliner if I have time. I’m sure all the mums reading recognise this! It’s just pittful. But now, once again I have my very own place for all my girly things and I’m a happy lady looking forward to 10 minutes per day when I can take care of myself and do the things women like to do! So, DIY, putting together a piece of furniture and a fun project at the studio too! I’ve been optimising the natural light setup and creating new backgrounds and reflectors to give even more variation for all of you! I love the new grey/green background. Oskar helped me to paint it with a roller of his own so lots of love has gone into creating it. Alice played photo model for a few minutes so here you are, a few playful moments with Alice, her beautiful curls and my new studio background!…
Last week I had the enormous pleasure of meeting Malte and his family for a special photography session. It was an Essence Vitae session. I am part of an amazing project involving 50 or photographers across the country and we photograph families with incurable life threatening illness for free. The focus of the session is on the family, the love they share, the happiness they find, a documentation of their life in a moment. We go home to the family and photograph them there. If you know a family who needs an hour of fun with a photographer there to capture their moments together then take a look at Essence Vitaes website and pass on the link. Here are just a few of the beautiful moments I caught in camera of this playful family.
Here’s a little sneak preview of what I’ve been having fun doing in the studio this morning. Little Adalyn is only 6 weeks old and as expected for the ages, didn’t want to sleep or curl up and be cosy but be with mum and walk around. We managed some lovely baby/newborn portraits of her anyway and some wonderful photos of her brother and family. They’ll come later…sneak peek here only!
A few days ago my family came to visit me for lunch at my studio in Tullinge (I was 1 happy mummy!). My kids were happily playing in my daylight studio so I grabbed my camera to capture their laughter and play. Everyone assumes that as a childrens photographer I must have loads of great photos of my kids! That’s just not the case. When Oskar was small I photographed him all the time so from that period I do have alot of lovely photos. But just the same as any mum, I have a lot less photos of my second child, Alice. Time just goes too fast. Photographing your own children once they know what a camera is though is the hardest thing. They usually run away. Well, at least my eldest does. I bribed him this time with a lollipop which did the trick! I had a full 5 minutes with him and Alice was so lovely playing with the small latte cups while sitting in a basket!
I love the last picture of Oskar. It was just a moment, a split second, and he was happy again. I wonder what he was thinking about.
Photographing newborns is probably the biggest ‘perk’ of being a family and childrens photographer! I just love it. Latest in my studio was 12 day old little Selma. She is just beautiful and sweet and warm and lovely. If you are interested in booking a newborn session with me then be sure to book before your baby is born to ensure you can get a date. We need to photograph your treasure within the first 2 weeks while they still sleep all the time! We’ll reschedule as necessary after the birth of your baby.
For those of you new to my blog, I have 2 children myself, 3 and 1 year old, so I am perfectly comfortable and used to holding newborns. I have full changing and feeding facilities here in my studio.
This Autumn we had fabulous leaves! Some years they just turn brown, fall and rot on the ground but this year it was perfect…perfect for an outdoor 1 year photography session! It’s the best time of year for childrens photography. I found this spot just a stones throw from my studio. The kids love it and I love it! …and I loved their matching wooly jumpers too.
I know, It’s been too long since my last blog. I promise that it’s not because I don’t have anything to share but rather I’m just to busy producing all the beautiful wall displays and albums for my clients! Now I have a dilemma, continue showing everything in order I photographed which means sharing Summer family portraits on a Winters day or skip to the Autumn or even Winter ones?!… It might just get a bit jumbled here for a while! Here’s a few of the photos this lovely Stockholm family have waiting to collect.
Sommar familjefotografering med 3 barn i Tullinge.
I’ve just finished working on those most beautiful portraits! At this session we discovered tiny tiny newborn frogs, they were as small as my thumb nail and Valdemar didn’t want to be photographed, he wanted to catch the frogs!…but with a little playful persuasion I got these amazing shots… and wow…his eyes just popped! Looking at these images on screen just pales in comparison to the fine art displays!….lovely! I don’t want to let them go!
